About Uganda

Uganda, Popularly refererred to as the Pearl of Africa is a beautiful small country located in East Africa. Uganda is a landlocked with neighboring Kenya to the East, Tanzania to the South , South Sudan to the North, Democratic Republic of Congo to the West and Rwanda to the South West.

Population:

Uganda’s population is approximately 46 Million people according to the recently concluded national population census with almost 75% of the population comprised of youth below the age of 25 years.

Governance:

Uganda is largely popular for its beauty and a major tourist destination within East Africa. Uganda gained her independence from the British in 1962 and is therefore a self-governed independent country led by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni with established governance arms like the Judiciary, The Legislature and Executive arms.

Accessibility:

Uganda is very accessible by all major international Airlines through Entebbe International Airport which is the major entry port by air into Uganda. Uganda also boasts of its own National Airline , which is the Uganda Airlines that flies to multiple destinations globally.

Economy:

Uganda has a very vibrant economy and the major currency that is used in Uganda is the Uganda Shilling. Uganda’s financial system is serviced by all major international Banks such as the Standard Chartered Bank, Barclays Bank, Stanbic Bank, ABSA bank, Eco Bank and many more banks. Foreign Exchange services are also supported by Forex Bureaus that are spread throughout the country accepting all major foreign currencies , therefore any visitor travel with cash can always exchange a
can always exchange any Bank or Forex Bureau. Automatic Teller Machines ( ATMs) that can cash all major credit and debit cards are also readily available any of the bank branches throughout the country.

Safety and Security

Uganda have a very well organized and efficient security system that guarantees safety and security for all Ugandans and all visitors to Uganda. The Uganda security system consists of the Uganda Police, Uganda People’s Defence Forces ( Uganda Army), the Uganda Prisons Service, and several registered and well regulated  private security companies that assist to maintain law and order.

Tourism Sector

Uganda is one of the most celebrated tourist destinations in Africa, thanks the variety of tourist attractions, peace and safety for tourists and a professional tourist sector headed by the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities of Uganda. The Uganda Tourism Board is the main government agency responsible for promoting Uganda’s tourism globally and ensuring minimum standards/service quality throughout the service value chain of tourism in Uganda. The Uganda Wildlife Authority is the agency mandated protection and conserving Uganda’s wildlife resources. Uganda Tourism is a also supported by a professional private sector includes Tour Operators under their association the Association of Uganda Tour Operators and Hoteliers under the Uganda Hotel Owners Association.
